What To Expect

Frauenkirche Dresden
The Frauenkirche or "Church of Our Lady" is a Baroque Lutheran church. It is one of the most outstanding churches in Europe and a significant sample of the sacred buildings of Lutheranism.

Its particular history of almost total destruction and reconstruction a few years ago, in 2005, makes it a symbol of German reconstruction after the Second World War.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, its reconstruction began in 1994, ending in 2005. The work was financed through private donors around the world.

It is considered a "symbol of reconciliation".

The Dresden Zwinger
The Dresden Zwinger is a baroque palace located in the old town, between the Semperoper Opera House and Postplatz.

The palace was built on the site that formerly occupied a fortress, hence its name, since the word Zwinger (synonymous with Ringmauer) was used to refer to the circular outer wall that was part of the fortresses.

Initially built as a greenhouse for orange trees, the construction alone served the representative claims of Prince Elector Augustus the Strong and was the site of great festivals. Today it stands out for the art and science collections found inside.
