Once built as Stalinallee for workers, today renovated by capitalists as Karl-Marx-Allee - from the 'House of the Child' on Strausberger Platz to the 'High-rise on Weberwiese' to the towers of the Frankfurter Tor. The avenue was the flagship of a new socialist society.
Workers should live in palaces. On June 17, 1953, the street was the site of the beginning of the uprising with numerous deaths throughout the GDR. Today, the arrival of galleries and design-oriented singles testify to the upheaval.
